Hello and welcome to VegfulLife!
Hi! I am Kristy. I live in Vancouver, Washington with my husband, Steve, three companion cats and one guinea pig. I became a vegetarian in 2012 and have been vegan since 2014. Since 2012, I have opened myself up to new experiences and new ways of thinking.
I am currently earning a Master of Arts degree in Humane Education through the Institute for Humane Education. Upon entering the program, I discovered how the environment is degraded by what we eat, how we grow our food, and how we consume products. I also learned about human rights and how people are treated and denied access to basic human rights around the world. I was amazed to see how so many things in life are connected, yet I was not mindful of them for so many years.
In April 2016, I became certified as a Vegan Lifestyle Coach and Educator through the Main Street Vegan Academy. It was an incredible experience to spend 6 intensive days in New York City with 16 other amazing individuals. We all came to veganism through our own paths and we all have our own stories. Yet, what we all have in common is the desire to inspire others on their vegan paths. Check out the Coaching page for more information about vegan coaching sessions.
I also completed the Professional Plant-Based Culinary Certification and the Essential Vegan Desserts through Rouxbe Cooking School. The Plant-Based Culinary Certification course was a comprehensive culinary course that taught not only the basics in plant-based cooking, but also provided us with the tools to develop and create delectable and healthy plant-based and vegan recipes. The Essential Vegan Desserts course, led by Fran Costigan herself, gave me the tools and helped me build upon my skills in order to create beautiful and delicious vegan desserts!
